Data
Data Available
This page tells you something of the data available in the Hagger One Name Study
How the data is stored
The detailed data is stored in a series of Excel Spreadsheets, with each Spreadsheet dedicated to a particular type of record, e.g. Birth Index, Census,
Marriage Certificates. A Master Excel Spreadsheet brings together the individual records on each person being given a unique reference number and allocated to a
particular family. The personal reference numbers are six digit and the family identifiers are 3 alpha characters and 3 numerical digits. An example of a family
identifier would be THE014, this tells me it is a a family with Therfield connections and it is family number 14 for this location. As work progresses families are
combined where evidence is discovered supporting this decision.
In addition to the spreadsheets Family Trees are constructed and the aim is to construct these in Family Historian, currently trees are in a mixture of Word, PDF
and Family Historian descendent format. Currently we have over 50,000 individual data entries in the spreadsheets, these can of course cover more than one person,
of these 46% have personal reference numbers allocated to them. There are over 200 discreet family groups at present which are at various stages of tree
construction, some will certainly be merged and we have already merged 48 families into one of the other family groups.
